Understanding World Clocks and Time Zones

The World Clock displays the current local time in major cities and timezones around the globe, updated in real time. For professionals working with international teams, global investors tracking market hours, or travelers keeping in touch with home, a reliable world clock eliminates the mental arithmetic of calculating time differences on the fly. Our world clock sources its data from the IANA Time Zone Database, ensuring that every displayed time reflects the correct UTC offset for today — including any active Daylight Saving Time adjustments. You can add and remove cities to create a personalized dashboard of the locations that matter to you. Each city card shows the current time, date, UTC offset, and whether DST is currently in effect, giving you a complete picture at a glance. The clock automatically detects your local timezone via the browser and highlights it for easy comparison. Unlike static offset tables that go stale during DST transitions, our world clock recomputes every second using live Intl API data, so you never see an outdated offset. The tool covers all 24 primary UTC offsets as well as the handful of half-hour and quarter-hour offsets used in India (UTC+5:30), Nepal (UTC+5:45), the Chatham Islands (UTC+12:45), and other regions. Whether you need to know if Tokyo is currently ahead or behind São Paulo, or whether London has already switched to British Summer Time, the world clock gives you an authoritative, always-current answer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does the world clock update?

The displayed times update every second using your device's system clock and the JavaScript Intl API, which resolves IANA timezone rules locally. No server round-trip is needed, so times are always current.

Does the world clock show Daylight Saving Time status?

Yes. Each city card indicates whether DST is currently active and shows the effective UTC offset. When a DST transition occurs, the offset updates automatically.

Why do some timezones have half-hour or quarter-hour offsets?

A few regions adopted non-standard offsets for historical, geographic, or political reasons. India uses UTC+5:30, Nepal uses UTC+5:45, and the Chatham Islands use UTC+12:45. Our world clock supports all of these.

Can I share my custom world clock with someone else?

Yes. Your selected cities are encoded in the page URL. Simply copy the URL and send it — the recipient will see exactly the same city dashboard you configured.
